Keep cool this summer at any of our city pools located at 36th Street in South Wheeling; Garden Park in Warwood; Bridge Park on Wheeling Island; and Grandview Pool in Wheeling Heights.
They are a great place to be in the sun, catch a tan, and best of all is the price! $2 for adults, $1 for children (6-12), and kids under 5 get in free!

Opening day is Sunday, June 1st with daily hours of Noon - 6 P.M. The city will operate the concession stands and certified lifeguards are always on duty.

Learn To Swim  
The City of Wheeling offers one of the best Learn-To-Swim programs in the Tri-State area.  The cost is a nominal $10 - now that’s a bargain you can’t pass up! Sessions are open to children ages 3 and up. Each session is scheduled to last for two weeks and runs Monday - Friday.

We offer classes from beginners to advanced swimming levels. There will also be pre-school classes for children 3 - 5 years old (a parent must accompany child into the water).The class is 11:00-11:30 am.  The pre-school class does not need to attend test. The classes are taught by qualified Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and lifeguards.

Senior Swim  
We have stretched the senior citizen age group a good bit to include everyone 50 and over.  The pool will be yours exclusively every Saturday for one hour at 11:00 A.M. during the month of July at Garden Park Pool and 36th Street Pool under the supervision of a certified lifeguard.  This program is absolutely FREE.  You may swim laps or simply splash or exercise in the water. Sorry, no on under the age of 50 will be admitted.  Remember - there is no charge!



July Evening Swim  
Special themed evening swims from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. will be offered at all city pools during the month of July. This year each evening swim will have a theme. The first evening swim at each pool will be Cherry Dip Delight Evening Swim, the second will be Poolside Crunch Craze Evening Swim, the third will be Dunk & Donuts Evening Swim, the four will be Popsicle Pool Palooza Evening Swim, and the 5th will be Lemonade in the Shade Evening Swim. Regular admission charges will apply.

Season Swim Pass  
The Recreation Department will again offer Season Swim Passes.
Family Pass - $55
Single Adult/Student Pass - $30
Senior Citizen Pass - $15
All passes can be purchased at your local pool.



Family Fun Night  
The Wheeling Recreation Department will sponsor another FREE program at our four city pools.  A "Family Fun Night" will be held on:

June 12th - Garden Park Pool
June 26th - 36th Street Pool
July 10th - Grandview Pool
July 24th - Bridge Park Pool

There will be FREE ADMISSION into the pool as well as FREE hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, soda, and a D.J.! The hours will be from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. There will also be door prizes and FUN for all.  Concession stand will also be open.  Come and enjoy a FUN FAMILY OUTING at your neighborhood pool!

Pool Party Information

  • Rental Fee-$120 which includes two lifeguards on duty (if you have more than 50 people-a third lifeguard is required with an additional fee of $40)
  • Pools are available to rent from 6:30-8:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays evenings.
  • Everyone must leave the premises by 8:45 pm at the very latest.
  • All pool rules must be followed. Please read and follow any posted signage to include those related to safety precautions and expected behavior that needs to be followed. Guest safety in the water and outside the water is our number one priority.  Staff has the right to address any infractions of the rules. Depending on the severity of the action or their unwillingness to comply, our staff has the right to ask those patrons to leave the facility immediately. 
  • No alcohol and smoking/tobacco is permitted inside pool area.
  • Pool party guests may bring outside food and drinks. No alcohol or glass is permitted. Food may not be brought into the pool-must be in designated areas only.
  • If your pool party is cancelled due to inclement weather, you must call the Parks & Recreation office within 5 business days of cancellation to try to reschedule your party or request a refund check.




The pool party rental fee of $120 will be required in full the day the reservation is made.
