Wheeling Police arrested a man over the weekend on multiple drug charges after he fled from police on Wheeling Island.
Around 5:40 p.m. on Friday, officers initiated a traffic stop on South Wabash Street. When the vehicle came to a halt, the passenger, later identified as 25-year-old Daquain Bass of Martins Ferry, Ohio, exited the car and ran from the officer. After a brief foot chase, Bass was apprehended and placed under arrest.
During the investigation, officers discovered a range of illegal drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.
Bass faces three felony counts of possession with intent to deliver. Additionally, he had two outstanding warrants for fleeing related to previous incidents. He was also a wanted fugitive on two felony charges from Belmont County, Ohio.
Bass was taken to the Northern Regional Jail, where bond was set at $151,000, cash only.One Arrested on Drug Charges by WPD
