Wheeling Police arrested and charged a local man Wednesday stemming from a fatal drug overdose that occurred in 2022. 

Ryan Allen Musick, 25 of Wheeling was charged with one felony count of Failure to Render Aid Resulting in an Overdose Death. 

On Sept. 14, 2022, Wheeling Police were dispatched to the walking trail in the 2800 block of Chapline Street for a woman who was suffering from a drug overdose. She was taken to Wheeling Hospital for medical treatment, where she later died.

The West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed the female victim died as a result of a fentanyl-related overdose.

During the investigation, it was determined Musick was present with the victim at the time of the overdose and was later charged with a felony.

He was arraigned by an Ohio County magistrate Thursday and currently is being held in the Northern Regional Jail under a $10,000 cash-only bond.
