Shots Fired Arrest

One person has been arrested and is facing charges after a shots fired incident in East Wheeling Monday afternoon.


Around 3:45 p.m., Wheeling Police were dispatched to 15th Street for a report of shots fired. Police quickly located the suspect’s vehicle and a short pursuit followed. The suspect then got out of his vehicle and ran from police after crashing near the intersection of 14th and Wood Streets. 

After a brief foot chase, Police were able to arrest the suspect in the area of 15th and Jacob Street.

Benjamin Edwards, 52 of Wheeling is charged with wanton endangerment with a firearm, reckless fleeing and prohibited person In possession with a firearm.

Nobody was injured during the incident. 

Edwards was taken to the Northern Regional Jail by WPD.
