One person was arrested Friday evening by Wheeling Police after a domestic-related stabbing in North Wheeling.

Police were called to Wheeling Fire Station 2 in North Wheeling around 8:30 p.m. for a report of an injured person who was seeking medical treatment. The female victim was taken to WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital to be treated for a hand injury. 

According to police, a verbal argument inside a residence in the 800 block of Main Street escalated into a fight, which resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim.

19-year-old Gavin Sebastian Thompson of Wheeling was arrested and is charged with malicious assault. He was then taken to the Northern Regional Jail.
