With Spring upon us, the City of Wheeling will be providing some support for some Ward 2 neighborhood cleanups, but volunteers to assist with the tasks are also needed.

In addition to the cleanup being conducted by the Ohio County Solid Waste Authority on Tuesday, May 10, Councilor Ben Seidler is coordinating the following spring cleanups: Wheeling Island, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 30; Fulton and North Wheeling, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 7.

“Keeping our neighborhoods safe and clean are two of the top priorities for the residents and businesses in Ward 2. The great City of Wheeling is fully committed to helping with this cause, but we also need community engagement of residents, business owners, sports teams, community associations and volunteer groups to come out and help us spruce things up for spring.  Volunteers can help remove cinders from the sidewalk, pick up trash along the roads and sidewalks, cut grass and trim. Residents can get their properties looking nice, and offer to help a neighbor do the same,” Seidler said.

The City of Wheeling will provide dumpsters during the neighborhood cleanup events at the following locations: Wheeling Island at Belle Isle; North Wheeling at the bottom of Fifth Street, across from Providence Green Apartments; and Fulton at the former Wheeling Dog Pound site on the Peninsula

Trash Bags will be provided. Limited assistance for trash removal is available for elderly or disabled persons.  To make arrangements, please call the Sanitation Department at (304) 234-3707.
