The Fitzsimmons Family Dog Park, located at the Tunnel Green Recreation Complex, re-opened today following a seasonal closure. The dog park will be open from dawn until dusk, daily.
Park users and their canine companions will notice some improvements that were made while the facility was closed. Public Works Director Russell Jebbia said crews removed dead trees, fertilized and overseeded the grass, added fresh wood chips and cleaned up around the perimeter of the park. Jebbia noted work will be continuing.
The Ohio Valley’s first dog park is divided into two sections – one for large breeds and one for small breeds - each with its own water and waste stations, walking trail and benches. The site has vehicular access from 18th Street and pedestrian access from Heritage Trail, along with adequate parking.
