Progress continues to be made on the City of Wheeling’s downtown water line replacement project. Beginning tomorrow and likely lasting through the remainder of the week, crews will be working into the intersection of 16th & Chapline streets. Motorists on 16th Street will be detoured around the work and should pay close attention to signage and traffic control barrels.
This water line project will replace a water main that was originally installed in 1886. City leaders plan to finish all underground utility work before construction of the Streetscape project’s above-ground improvements get underway with new streets, sidewalks, signalization and other features along downtown Wheeling’s main traffic arteries.
