Late this afternoon, around 5 p.m., Wheeling Police were called to the Shilling Bridge above Little Wheeling Creek in Elm Grove for a report of a man’s body in the water. The 911 call was made by people walking along the bridge.
Police detectives, Wheeling Fire Department personnel, as well as the West Virginia Medical Examiners Office all responded to the scene.
The body will be taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for identification, which could take several days.
