Floodplain Management

The City of Wheeling contains a significant amount of land located in the floodplain.  Development in the floodplain requires special attention and certain precautions must be undertaken.  Prior to planning a project, confirm the location of the property as it pertains to the flood zone using the flood map link provided under Resources and then contact the Floodplain Manager to discuss your project. Please note that building a fence in a floodplain does require a permit and inspections.
