Smoke Detectors are an important device to have in any home or business, occupied or not. Smoke Detectors should be placed various areas of a house, apartment or other residential structure and mobile homes. Areas include:
Batteries should be changed bi-annually, typically when the time changes in November and March – or “Fall Back” and Spring Forward.”
Most manufacturers recommend the detector be replaced after ten (10) years. Check the expiration date on the back of the detector and completely replace when expired.
It is preferred to have a detector with a built in 10-year battery.
