• The City of Wheeling operates under the Manager-Mayor Plan.
• Council consists of six members; one member is elected from each of the six wards.
• The Mayor is elected at large by the qualified voters of the City and serves as the presiding officer of the Council.
• City elections for Mayor and members of Council are held every four years; the current council took office on July 1, 2016.
